Cole & Beth’s Garden
Buddina, QLD
Cole & Beth wanted a modern native Australian garden to complement their newly built ‘forever’ home in coastal Queensland.
The design brief was to give their relatively small front yard a feeling of openness while maintaining privacy. They wanted to continue the open plan living from the inside to the outside and maximise the use of their outdoor living space.
Considered tree placement offers a sense of privacy, enclosure, shade, and visual interest. I extended the driveway to merge with the entry walk from the gatehouse to alfresco for a clean, modern look while allowing it to be used by the kids as a play surface. Maximum lawn space was also a key priority. I used a selection of hardy coastal native plants and durable hardscape materials like natural stone walling, boulders, gravel, and concrete to suit the location and modern building style.
I created a concept plan detailing the layout of the garden areas, materials, features, and plants and presented their landscape design in 2d and 3d.
